F1H2O GRAND PRIX OF EUROPE Feelings and Impressions

Updated: Feb 22

2021 UIM-F1H2O World Championship kick off season came to an end on Sunday 12th September in San Nazzaro, Italy. After a long break due to COVID-19 pandemic, the F1H2O Grand Prix of Europe was the season opener seeing 18 drivers lining up.
Erik Stark was back in the game with Gillman Racing as Victory Team couldn’t join the 1st round of the 2021 UIM-F1H2O World Championship.

“I was very happy to be racing with Scott, I’ve been racing with him before and it’s always inspiring to learn from such a talented driver and team. I was sorry Victory Team couldn’t join, hopefully they will be ready to race in the next races” - said Erik Stark

The driver from Sweden starter the racing week-end within the top 3 positions in free practice but some of technical problems didn’t let him start higher than 9th in the GP of Europe.
After a good race start and a good comeback, Stark managed to step up in 5th position when the middle section broke at full speed and the engine fell off causing a big crash. The driver walked away with no injuries but bitter feelings.

“After 1 week from the GP of Europe my feelings are bittersweet. I was very happy to be back in the boat, I wasn’t driving since Sharjah 2019 and the feeling was amazing! I was happy with my performance overall because after such a long time and with the package I had, the team and I did a very good job! I knew I was driving a very old boat that was not competitive for the podium and being in top 10 was already a big win. Of course I’m sad because we had a good start and a good pace and we could have finished top 5 if we didn’t crash. But overall I had good feelings and I can’t wait to be back racing again!” - Erik Stark

News and updates on the 2021 season calendar will come soon, stay tuned!
